1st: balance: the distance between lines gives the piece consistency, their slight disarray makes them dynamic. It is centered and closed, the "broken circle" motif unifies it. 2nd: Taalia uses symmetry and centeredness to unify the piece to the point where some dynamism is lost. Closed. 3rd: Diagonal, thin and thick lines are dynamic, eye naturally flows along piece, closed. Taalia tried piece without diagonal theme and decided it was too flat. 4. clear focal point in center, negative space triangles add movement, and background of consistent lines enforces unity and removes depth
This blog has been created as a space to post and critique project examples from our class. ART 111 "Introduction to the Studio" is a beginning level studio course designed to introduce and ground students in core principles of art making in a rigorous, hands on studio. These principles will be taught through a series of practical exercises using traditional and digital tools. Emphasis will be placed on developing skills, knowledge of materials, methods of observation and translation, collaboration, discussion, and creative discipline.
