Hanan Romodan "Fracturing Through" 2010. cut up items, x-acto knife, butcher knife, cutting board. 70" x 71" x 4.5" This piece explored the concept of Fracture.
Hanan’s piece invokes movement through spiraling line that the eye follows. The presentation is engaging in that the observer interacts with the piece in trying to figure out what the original object was before it was cut up. The variety of colors and materials shows no unity but unified by the organic linear presentation and the fact that all the objects share the common theme of having been cut up. The spatial relationship of the artwork within the room is enables the observer to attain a 3-D view of the piece which adds to the experience. The concept of this piece is fracture. This is shown both in the process as well as the presentation. The process was fracturing the objects by cutting them. Each object is presented separately but together they tell a story.

ART 111 "Introduction to the Studio" is a beginning level studio course designed to introduce and ground students in core principles of art making in a rigorous, hands on studio. These principles will be taught through a series of practical exercises using traditional and digital tools.
